Media Pioneer and Founder of Ramoji Film City, Ramoji Rao, Passes Away at 87

Legacy of Innovation:
Esteemed media tycoon Cherukuri Ramoji Rao, head of the Ramoji Group, which includes Ramoji Film City, passed away at 87. His media empire includes Eenadu newspaper, ETV Network, and Usha Kiran Movies. He breathed his last at 3:45 am at Star Hospital in Hyderabad.

Condolences from Leaders:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief at his death, describing him as a visionary who revolutionized Indian media. “Rao’s rich contributions have left an indelible mark on journalism and the world of films,” Modi said on X, adding that through his noteworthy efforts, he set new standards in innovation and excellence in the media and entertainment world.

President Droupadi Murmu offered condolences on the demise of Rao, stating that with his passing, India has lost a titan of the media and entertainment sector. “An innovative entrepreneur, he pioneered many ventures, including the Eenadu newspaper, ETV news network, and Ramoji Film City. Honoured with Padma Vibhushan, he succeeded as his vision was essentially rooted in society. His contributions to this industry will be long remembered. My condolences to his family and well-wishers,” President Murmu said in a post on X.

Ramoji Rao had previously battled and successfully recovered from colon cancer a few years ago. In 2016, he received the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award in India, from then-President Pranab Mukherjee.

Ramoji Rao’s legacy will continue to inspire many in the fields of media and entertainment. His visionary leadership and pioneering spirit have left an indelible mark on the industry, and his contributions will be remembered for generations to come.
