Chandu Champion News: Kartik Aaryan on His Physical Transformation – ‘It Was a Work of Patience’
Kartik Aaryan has left everyone stunned with his physical transformation for his upcoming Kabir Khan directorial, ‘Chandu Champion’. In this biopic, Kartik portrays Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medalist. In an exclusive chat with ETimes, Kartik shared the challenges he faced while preparing for the role.
When asked whether the emotional or physical preparation was more difficult, Kartik responded, “Both were difficult and they were co-related. Building this body was a work of a lot of patience and it took really long. I had never imagined a film like this, a genre like this, and this is something I’ve never attempted. For me, I was trying to give my 200 percent – be it the psyche or physique in every way possible.”
He further elaborated on the preparation process, “We did a lot of workshops, reading sessions, and worked with a dialect expert to get the Marathi lingo right without overdoing it. There’s always a thin line between making it sound correct and overdoing it. It’s been quite a while since we started prepping for this film. All said and done, I’m really proud of this film.”
Kartik also spoke about Kabir Khan’s ability to bring out the best in his actors, citing examples like John Abraham in ‘New York’ and Ranveer Singh in ’83’. He said, “Kabir Khan knows what suits an actor and what not. He decides a lot of things in the film, depending on the actor. That’s what sets him apart. Plus, he wanted to present me in a way that I’ve not been presented before. That’s why all his actors, whenever they do a film with him, play parts that are different from what they’ve done before.”
‘Chandu Champion‘ is set to release on June 14.
