Bloody Ishq Review: Vikram Bhatt’s Latest Horror Fails to Deliver Scares and Thrills

Strange and spooky events soon start to unfold, making Neha question if the mansion is haunted or if there’s another sinister explanation.

Direction
Vikram Bhatt, known for his successful horror films like Ghulam and the Raaz franchise, seems to have lost touch with Bloody Ishq. The film leans more on romantic drama than true horror, making it predictable and lacking originality.

Screenplay
The story, written by Mahesh Bhatt, follows Neha’s journey to regain her lost memories after a near-drowning incident. Her friend Ayesha (Jeniffer Piccinato) tries to help, but her motives are questionable. The plot drags on for 138 minutes, revealing predictable twists that fail to surprise or engage the audience.

Performances
Avika Gor delivers a commendable performance as Neha, though it feels similar to her role in 1920: Horrors of the Heart.
Vardhan Puri is decent as Romesh, but the weak script doesn’t allow his character to shine. Jeniffer Piccinato plays her part well, adding some depth to the story.

Technical Aspects
The film’s execution is clichéd, with predictable elements like creaking doors and desolate mansions. Dialogue fails to elevate the drama, and the horror elements lack the necessary scare factor. The traditionally strong music of Bhatt’s horror films is also disappointing here. The visual effects are subpar, further diminishing the film’s impact.

Bloody Ishq Highlights
Predictable Plot: The storyline fails to innovate within the horror genre, relying on tired tropes.
-Lack of Genuine Scares: The horror elements do not deliver the expected thrills and chills.
-Strong Performances: Avika Gor stands out in her performance but cannot save the film from its predictable plot and lacklustre direction.
-Weak Script and Dialogues: The writing does not allow for impactful performances, and the dialogues fail to elevate the drama.
-Disappointing Music and Visual Effects: The music and visual effects fall short of expectations, adding to disappointment.

Conclusion
Bloody Ishq fails to live up to the expectations set by Vikram Bhatt’s previous works. With a weak storyline, predictable plot twists, and subpar technical aspects, the film is more of a romantic drama with a touch of horror than a thrilling horror movie. It’s a missed opportunity for what could have been a gripping horror thriller.
