Despite the bad weather, the ceremony was filled with joy and vibrant performances. The audience cheered on the athletes’ parade along the Seine. Notable musical performances included a collaboration between opera singer Marina Viotti and death metal band Gojira, a performance by rapper Rim’K, and a golden carpet performance by singer Aya Nakamura.
Celine Dion performed Edith Piaf’s “Hymn to Love” underneath the Eiffel Tower’s Olympic rings. The cauldron was then lit, marking the end of the ceremony.
