September is shaping to be nostalgic for Bollywood fans, as several iconic films are set to re-release in theatres. Shah Rukh Khan and Anil Kapoor enthusiasts have reason to celebrate, with beloved classics like Veer-Zaara and Taal returning to the big screen.

Starting September 13, 2024, Shah Rukh Khan’s timeless love story Veer-Zaara (2004) will again grace cinemas. Directed by Yash Chopra, this epic romance, starring Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji alongside Khan, will have limited shows daily. If demand spikes, additional screenings may be added to accommodate eager fans.
Following closely, Anil Kapoor’s musical masterpiece Taal (1999) is slated for a September 20 re-release. Directed by Subhash Ghai, Taal features an unforgettable soundtrack by A.R. Rahman and stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Akshaye Khanna. Alongside Taal, Kapoor’s iconic film Tezaab (1988) is expected to return to theatres later in the month, bringing back memories of Madhuri Dixit’s legendary dance number “Ek Do Teen.”
The re-release trend kicked off with Rockstar (2011) earlier this year and has gained momentum due to a lull in new cinematic releases following the blockbuster clash of Stree 2, Vedaa, and Khel Khel Mein. Recently, classics like Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein (2001), Gangs Of Wasseypur, and Kantara have also found success in theatres, drawing full houses and rekindling audience love for these films.
Additionally, fans can look forward to the re-release of Pardes (1997), another Shah Rukh Khan gem, as well as Tumbbad (2018), which is set to hit screens on September 13. Salman Khan’s Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) and Laila Majnu (2018) have also been delighting audiences with their return to cinemas, with Laila Majnu surprisingly outperforming its original box office run.
September promises to be a month filled with cinematic nostalgia, offering fans a chance to relive these iconic moments on the big screen.
