Aspiring actress Shanaya Kapoor is poised to make her mark in Bollywood with her much-anticipated debut in the romantic drama Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan.
The 24-year-old daughter of actors Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor has been cast as the female lead opposite the talented Vikrant Massey. Inspired by a beloved short story by Ruskin Bond, this film promises to be a heartfelt exploration of love and self-discovery.
According to reports from Peeping Moon, Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan will follow the intertwined lives of a passionate theatre actress, played by Shanaya Kapoor, and a gifted blind musician, portrayed by Vikrant Massey. Their journey is expected to be filled with unexpected turns and profound themes, delving into the complexities of human connections, compassion, resilience, and self-belief. The film’s beautiful musical backdrop will further enhance the emotional depth of the characters’ stories.
The project is directed by Santosh Singh, who is known for his acclaimed work on popular web series such as Broken But Beautiful and Apharan. The screenplay, adapted by renowned writer Niranjan Iyengar, is set to capture the essence of the original story while bringing fresh insights. Although Iyengar was initially slated to direct the film, Singh’s extensive experience with similar narratives led to the directorial shift.
Produced by Mansi Bagla and Varun Bagla of Mini Films, Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan marks their second collaboration with Vikrant Massey following the 2022 remake of Forensic. The film’s title pays homage to the iconic song from the classic 1999 musical romance Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, featuring Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
While this will be Kapoor’s Hindi film debut, she is also set to appear in the epic Telugu-Malayalam action film Vrushabha, starring the legendary Mohanlal, which is slated for release next year.
Filming for Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan is expected to commence later this month in the picturesque hill station of Mussoorie. Additional sequences are planned in Mumbai and Europe. The film will be released theatrically in mid-2025.
Meanwhile, Vikrant Massey is currently shooting for filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani’s first web series for Disney+ Hotstar. Promotions for his upcoming film The Sabarmati Report will begin soon, leading to its theatrical release in November. Massey is considering several projects for 2025, including a psychological thriller with director Rahul Dholakia and an action film with Excel Entertainment.
